Computer Printer Ink Kits

Printer ink cartridges are small investments. Low cost printers come with surprisingly high cost cartridges. That must be why so many computer users have started purchasing computer printer ink kits to refill their own.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of ink refill kit dealers on the web. How do you know if you’re getting a good deal? Follow the tips below to find a quality product from a quality dealer.

Check the dealer’s return policy. If it isn’t posted on their website, move on. Trustworthy dealers will have a clear, concise policy posted.

Don’t forget to calculate the shipping costs. You may not be getting as good a deal as you think if shipping and handling fees are high. There are many “discount” printer refill kit online merchants that make a fortune on excessive handling fees.

Acid-free ink is very important if you print photos frequently. Make sure your ink refill kit is acid free if you find you frequently print pictures or are a scrapbooker.

You can usually refill the same cartridge three to six times before it will need to be replaced. You’ll know it needs replacing when the printer heads wear out and quality is compromised. When you do replace it, look for one that’s been remanufactured for more savings.

Most computer refill kits come with everything you need for adding ink to your cartridges. If you print black and white most often, look for a kit that contains only black or mostly black ink. For color printers, choose a kit that contains cyan, magenta and yellow inks. All kits should contain the other tools for refilling: syringes, needles, instructions and often, gloves.

Using remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges may void your printer warranty. If you purchased your printer new, make sure you are aware of the warranty details, including time limits. If the warranty is only 6 months and has expired, there’s nothing to gain by purchasing high-cost manufacturer filled cartridges.

Refilling cartridges for your computer printer will undoubtedly save you money. The cost savings will be at the expense of time. Time to refill and clean up the potential mess the ink can make.

Ink will stain almost anything it comes in contact with so take proper precautions. Refilling should be done over newspaper or out of doors. Consider wearing protective gloves to avoid staining your hands.

Computer printer ink kits are a great way to save money on home computing. In addition to their economy, they are more environmentally friendly than replacements. Find a reputable dealer and this simple do-it-yourself project could save you $100 or more each year.
